Weird weather alert. After moving the venue from TVCC to Rodeo Park because of rain in Ontario. The Chiefs started out their season on home turf. Starting pitcher David Nicodemus pitched very well in the 4-1 loss against the perennial hard-hitting Stars going the whole way. It's early in the season but there were already some spectacular plays on both sides taking hits away from each other. The Chiefs nearly had a favorite rare play, stealing home. In the sixth with bases loaded and Kraig Davidson at the plate Sam Cook decided to steal home. The opposing pitcher delivered a high pitch that required Kraig to almost jump to get the bat on the ball and make it a suicide squeeze but the ball barely rolled foul down the first base line. In the bottom of the 7th with two runners on base and just as the rain started to sprinkle down all the lights in the ball park went out prompting a 10 minute delay waiting for them to come back on.

The Chiefs started out strong versus the Rangers getting three runs in the top of the first and then two more runs in the second and never looked back. Kyler Wells picked up the win going six strong innings with Brent Mehling coming in relief to close the game.

The Chiefs had a commanding 8-2 lead but let the game slip away while visiting the Eagle Vipers.

The Chiefs are playing good baseball and had another winning performance versus a short-handed Rocky Mountain Avalanche club. Stu Beswick picked up the win with an efficient performance and Mike Meservy came in relief to put the game away with the support of some stellar defensive plays.

The Chiefs winning ways ended tonight against the Boise Gems. It got exciting at the end, though.
Trailing 10-2 in the bottom of the 7th the Chiefs got some clutch hitting from David Tovar, Kyler Wells, and Nick Hinrichson, among others and there were several Chiefs that were patient at the plate and received free passes. With two out and the bases loaded, the Gems brought their closer back to the mound and who strike out the final batter on three well-placed pitches.

The Chiefs started out with hot bats and finished strong building a 5-0 lead in the first two innings and adding 5 more runs over the last three innings to quell any rallies the Vallivue Titans tried. Kyler Wells threw 7 quality innings with Stu Beswick coming in relief to record three outs on four batters in the 8th and Sam Cook closing out the game in the 9th.

The Chiefs faced off against cross-town rival Columbia Mudcats. James McDonald got the start with Mike Meservy coming in relief in the sixth inning. Trailing 4-3 in the top of the 7th the Chiefs used a suicide squeeze as part of the sequence to tie the game and then score the go-ahead run. They held off any Columbia rally attempt by retiring the side in the bottom of the 7th.

Making up for an early season rained out double header the Chiefs traveled down Twin Falls for a single nine inning game against the Cowboys. Brent Mehling pitched the first four innings and James McDonald finished the game. Though the Cowboys hit the ball very well the Chiefs played excellent defense and were able to turn several double plays to minimize the damage caused by the hits.

Trying to maintain their current momentum the Chiefs took on the Boise Seminoles at Ft. Boise. Nearly every player participated in this truly team win. A new pitcher came in every inning after the third. The Chiefs were ahead from the beginning but the Seminoles tied the game at 4 a piece in the bottom of the sixth by stealing home. The Chiefs answered with two runs in the top half of the seventh. Sam Cook came in to pitch in the bottom half of the seventh and the game ended on a heads up defensive play that caught a Seminole batter trying to stretch a single to second base.

Getting back to their league schedule the Chiefs extended their current win streak by beating the Kuna D'Backs in an extra frame. The Chiefs jumped out early and and extended to a 7-2 lead but had trouble keeping the lead with one bad inning. The home D'Backs stormed back to within one run at 7-6 in the 6th and then were able to score the tying run in the bottom of the seventh. In the top of the eighth the Chiefs' bats came back to life. Tyler Crabb hit the game winning RBI with one out giving him a 4 for 4 night and the rest of the team kept pouring on the runs. Kyler Wells went deep into the game with Stu Beswick pitching two innings in relief.

Visiting Columbia Mudcats were not treated well by the home team. The Chiefs scattered hits all over the field and continued scoring runs through the end of the game. David Nicodemus threw a one-hitter with one walk to blank the Mudcats in eight of nine innings with Mike Merservy retiring the side in the top of the ninth to help the Chiefs continue to build momentum going into their travel tournament in Lewiston this weekend. Tyler Crabb extended his hitting streak to 15 games with another hit tonight, a double.
