2010 NAMPA AMERICAN LEGION BASEBALL
Braves start the season strong!  The Nampa Braves defeated the Meridian Rangers 10-0 behind the masterful pitching of James McDonald and timely hitting by Kraig Davidson, Theron Floyd, and many others.  Way to go Braves!

The Braves moved to 2-0 on the season with a 7-4 victory over the Centennial Cannons behind the pitching of Theron Floyd and Tyler Crabb and the hitting of James McDonald.  Braves start the season strong!

The Braves were involved in a rain delay while playing Middleton.  Down 5-2 in the 5th inning the game will be played where it left off at a later date.

The Braves dropped their first game of the season to the Boise Gems 9-2.  Coach Behrens said the team played tough but five critical errors led to the Gems scoring all of their runs.

The Braves lost to the Vallivue Titans 9-2.  Although leading 2-1 in the 5th inning, a controversial balk call led to our pitcher's ejection and opened the door for Vallivue to pull ahead.

The Braves lost a close one to the Emmett Blue Devils 11-9.  Six unearned runs were the difference, but the Braves faced off against Emmett's #1 and #2 pitchers and hit well.  This is almost the same Emmett team that won the District III regular season title, so a great showing like this means good things in the Braves' future.

The Braves defeated the Eagle Vipers 10-9 in extra innings.  The Chiefs hit the ball well came back to tie the game in the last inning to send it to extra innings.  This was a great win and a hard fought one!

The Braves lost the first two games of the Wes Miller Memorial Tournament to Kuna 7-1 and to Upper Valley 5-3.  In the Upper Valley game Kyler Wells pitched well and limited the perennial powerhouse and state qualifier to 5 unearned runs.  It was a great game and the Braves almost pulled it out having the based loaded in the bottom of the last inning.  Coach Behrens said he wants his team playing teams of this caliber to prepare them for District and a possible state berth!

The Braves lost another heartbreaker to Pendleton in the Wes Miller Memorial Tournament.  Down early the Braves battled back to tie the game in the top of the last inning.  But Pendleton was able to pull it out in extra innings.

The Braves lost to Wood River in a rain-shortened 5 inning game in the Wes Miller Memorial tournament 4-1.  The Braves played an undefeated Wood River team tough and had a number of chances to score, but just couldn't get the big hit when needed.  The Braves' pitcher Saxton Poll pitched a great game in rainy, wet conditions, while James McDonald led the Braves at the plate.  The tournament has shown that the Braves can compete with anyone as some of the teams playing in the tournament are sure to be state qualifiers.

The Braves took two consecutive wins by the identical score of 5-4.  They defeated the Columbia Mudcats 5-4, then defeated the Rocky Mt Avalanche 5-4 the next night.  Against the Avalanche, the Braves again rallied in the last inning.  Down 4-3 entering the top of the 7th, David Tovar was hit by a pitch; scored on Tyler Crabb's double in the gap; who in turn scored on Theron Floyd's triple off the wall!  Way to go Braves!

Braves win another one. Capped by a home run by Theron Floyd the Braves defeat the Capitals 12-1.

Braves lose two in a double header against the TV Stars at Fruitland to end a long run of consecutive gamess and then again at home. They beat Capital again at home 9-5 as they looked to return to their winning ways. It was short-lived as the Braves lose a heartbreaker at Eagle 9-8 in a game they were leading 8-3 in the 6th inning.

The Braves get back on track with a pair of wins in a double header with Caldwell. In the first game the Braves were up by four runs late in the game but had to come back to get the win. Chase Liljegren led the hitting with a two-run triple and a two-run double. The second game was very similar to the first with the Braves getting a 4-run lead late in the game only to see Caldwell battle back but this time the Braves held on for the one-point victory without needing to bat in the bottom of the seventh. The game ended with bases loaded and a throw out to first on a dropped third strike with all runners moving.

After losing their games to very tough competition in the Best of the West tourney in Eugene, OR the Braves looked to bounce back against perennial rival Boise Barons. The game was close through the 3 1/2 inning with the visitors holding a slim 1-0 lead. The Braves had gone three-up, three-down through three innings but brought the score even in the fourth and then really came alive in fifth to pull ahead for good. Kraig Davidson pitched a masterful game. Most of the scoring for the Braves came with two outs. Final score 6-1.
